+1 Upgrade Per Kill Upgrade Ladder: 34 Steps & Death Reset

How the 34-step upgrade ladder works in +1 Upgrade Per Kill on Roblox: kill upgrades, death reset to 0/34, Index cards, streaks, Gear Saver, and Halloween pumpkins.

FAQ

How many upgrade levels are there in +1 Upgrade Per Kill?
The HUD shows Upgrade n/34, so the run ladder has 34 steps. Roblox’s official description lists eight named tiers in order: Leather, Copper, Iron, Full Diamond, Ruby, Shadow, Prism, then MAXED.
What happens to your upgrade when you die?
After respawn, the HUD reads Upgrade 0/34 with a basic loadout (for example wooden sword and golden apples on Warrior). Void deaths use the same reset; the death screen says You fell into the void.
Can you start a run with leather armor without killing first?
Yes, if you own Head Start perks from the Upgrades window. Level I spawns Leather Helmet and Leather Boots; higher levels add leggings and chestplate. See our perks guide for prices and slot rules.
Do Halloween pumpkins still give a free upgrade?
We captured a limited-time Halloween event popup reading PUMPKIN FOUND! with +5 EMERALDS and +1 UPGRADE in late-October 2026 footage. Event timers change; treat pumpkins as seasonal unless you see the banner in your lobby.
What do 10, 20, 30, and 40 kill streak messages mean?
Chat broadcasts lines like "<player> is on a 10 kill streak!" at 10, 20, 30, and 40 kills. The HUD also tracks Streak n separately; we have not verified extra rewards tied to those chat lines.

Every fight in +1 Upgrade Per Kill is a race up a shared gear ladder. Kill someone, your upgrade counter ticks up; die, you drop back to the bottom unless you pay to keep progress. This guide sticks to what we read from gameplay frames in late October 2026—no guessed tier names beyond what Roblox or the Index actually show.

How does the 34-step upgrade ladder work in +1 Upgrade Per Kill?

Roblox’s official blurb for the experience says each kill upgrades your gear one level and death resets you, with gear climbing through Leather → Copper → Iron → Full Diamond → Ruby → Shadow → Prism → MAXED. In match HUDs we always saw Upgrade: n/34 plus a green bar labeled UPGRADE n/34, so one arena life spans 34 numbered steps, not eight buttons you click manually.

Kills also pay Gold (Gold: Ng top-right). Reward amounts are not fixed: one frame showed +1 UPGRADE +10g with Leather Chestplate and FULL LEATHER! at 4/34, while another showed +1 UPGRADE +12g with Leather Boots and a WARM-UP +10g tag at 2/34. We treat WARM-UP +10g as an extra label on that kill only—its rules are not verified.

Major milestones sometimes get a full-screen +1 UPGRADE 16/34 animation with a SKIP button in the corner. That lines up with the Index helmet card numbered 16 (see below).

Index → helmet tab: seven visible tier cards at steps 1, 6, 11, 16, 21, 26, and 31.

What did we confirm on screen for early leather steps?

We only have hard frame proof for a few early numbers. Use the table as a checklist when you play; do not assume every other step name until you see your own banner.

Open Index from the lobby (Tap new cards to collect them). NEXT REWARD AT 2 CARDS (or 1 CARD in another frame) tracks collection rewards; exact loot tables were not readable in our footage.

What happens when you die or fall into the void?

Death screens read You died!, often Slain by <player> with remaining HP like 9.3 left, then Respawning in 2.... Falling off the map shows You fell into the void and Respawning in 1.... Kill feed lines can read <player> void <player> for void eliminations.

After respawn—usually back on the lobby platform—the HUD showed Upgrade: 0/34. Hotbar examples included wooden sword and golden apples ×2 on Warrior, with chat PvP enabled! and quest banners such as QUEST DONE: Drop into the arena 8 times (another frame said 6 times; quest wording may vary).

Post-death lobby: Upgrade 0/34, basic sword, and apples back in the bar.

Void death uses the same progression reset; only the reason line changes.

To keep your gear, the lobby can show KEEP with armor/weapon icons and USE ◆20 (Emeralds). That is Gear Saver—separate from the free reset. Shop copy says KEEP YOUR UPGRADE / Use it on the death screen.

How do perks, streaks, and events change the ladder?

Head Start (Upgrades → Perks, no perk slot needed) lets you spawn in leather without earning those steps first: I = Leather Helmet + Leather Boots; II adds Leather Leggings; III adds Leather Chestplate. Prices we saw for the next levels were 300g, 700g, and 1,500g with Owned: I/IV style labels. Full perk math lives in our perks guide.

Kill streak chat announced 10, 20, 30, and 40 kills (<player> is on a 30 kill streak! etc.). HUD Streak: n tracks your current chain; we did not verify extra loot tied to those broadcast thresholds.

Halloween pumpkins (limited-time in our clips) popped PUMPKIN FOUND! with +5 EMERALDS · +1 UPGRADE, sometimes the same life as a normal +1 UPGRADE Leather Boots at 2/34. Timers like Ends in 11d 16h on quest tabs confirm seasonal windows—farm them when your lobby shows the event, not from memory.

Gold still matters for perks and classes; see how to get gold if you are stuck funding Head Start.

What have we not verified about the ladder?

Do not plan around these until you see them yourself (or a future patch note):

  • Exact gear name for every step between 5/34 and 34/34 (only 2/34, 4/34, and Index helmet numbers are frame-backed).
  • Armor defense values or full weapon stat tables (only Wooden Sword · 4 dmg · 1.6 speed at 4/34).
  • XP numbers, enchant rolls, cape drops, or crate odds.
  • Whether chat streak lines grant bonuses beyond bragging rights.
  • PC controls (our HUD shots are mobile).

Video subtitles mentioned Copper, Ruby boots, Full shadow, and Prism without matching upgrade counters—treat those as hints, not a published chart.
